Compatibility
This should work in Internet Explorer 4 or higher, but I will only be testing
it with Internet Explorer 6 and Windows XP SP2. If it is working right,
it should look like you are on the desktop of Windows XP, except for a black
bar on the side. There should be no toolbars on the top or status bars
on the bottom. If you are using Windows XP SP2, it probably won't work.
You need to change the security level to "Medium-low" or lower.
It will not allow you to do this with this site in the "internet zone".
The best way is to add it to the "trusted sites" zone. I haven't
found the exact setting to change to make this work in "internet zone"
with custom security, but "Allow script-initiated windows without size
or position constraints" set to "enable" would probably help.
Unfortunately, it will not work in Firefox. You will need
Flash Player and JavaScript enabled.
Special Settings
- You might need to add my website to "trusted sites" to get the fullscreen
to work correctly.
- To turn off the clicking sound, (in Windows XP) go to the control panel, open
"Sounds", click the "Sounds" tab, scroll down past "Windows
Explorer" and select "Start Navigation" and change it to "(none)".
Bugs
There is nothing you can do about the black bar on the side, it is actually
a scroll bar. Do not try to scroll down. It will work, but as soon
as you move your mouse, it will go back up. Some behaviors are different
if you have other windows open with scripts actively running It is best
to close all other windows.
Web Browsing
I will (later) make a clone of Firefox, but it will actually be an IFRAME in
Internet Explorer. Using this clone of Firefox is no more secure than
using Internet Explorer. If you go to a website with a "break out of frames"
script, like mine, it will exit the browser copy and show only that page. You
will need to close the window.
Hold Alt and press F4 to close the window. If you see a screen that just says [object], you will need to go back to return to this page.
